Are you interested in data, software development and the environment?
Are you looking to develop your career within an exciting growing company whilst working to achieve a BSc degree?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Science degree apprenticeship within the ForeCoast Marine team, part of JBA Consulting's Systems, Software and Data group. A degree apprenticeship is a fantastic alternative to a traditional campus-based programme, with the opportunity to earn a salary whilst still achieving a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Data Science.
The Degree Apprenticeship follows the pathways across the following clusters:
Statistics and data analysis
Modelling and Systems
Communication and Visualisation
Applications and business context
Interdisciplinary and integration.
Our ForeCoast Marine data science team develops cutting edge software to simulate, forecast and optimise operations in the following sectors: renewable energy, particularly offshore wind power, ports, marine and coastal construction. As well as undertaking detailed data analysis studies for climate adaptation and wider metocean services.
We work for a wide range of clients including: offshore wind farm developers, offshore renewable research institutions such as the European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult; weather and climate forecasters, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF); utilities companies; marine contractors; port authorities; and vessel owners.
Our wider System Software and Data group provide services to clients including Network Rail, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, Met Office, Central Government and Local Authorities. More information can be found here.
Following completion of probation and successful apprenticeship enrolment, apprenticeships would start in Autumn 2022. Study will be undertaken in the form of day or block release at university combined with supported workplace training, working to achieve a BSc in Data Science.
