JBA Consulting Appointed to Support Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm’s Installation Phases
Inch Cape Offshore Limited has appointed JBA Consulting (JBA) to inform the installation phases of the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm. JBA’s strategic and operation planning software – ForeCoast Marine – is being used to model and further understand the environmental impacts of the project’s installation operations.

The Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm, currently in late-stage development, will see up to 72 turbines located 15 km off the Angus Coast and connect to the national electricity transmission network at Cockenzie, East Lothian. On completion it will be Scotland’s largest single source of renewable power, generating the equivalent of the annual electricity needs of more than 1.7m British homes.
ForeCoast Marine will simulate the project’s key asset-component installation phases, including foundations, inter-array cables, offshore substation platforms, export cables and wind turbine generators. Through these simulations, the performance of proposed strategies will be compared quickly and reliably against key metrics such as CAPEX and OPEX, programme and weather / technical / logistical downtime. This will enable the project team to optimise its operations with its installation contractors.
Seán Kirwan, Project Manager, Inch Cape Offshore Limited, said: “ForeCoast Marine will allow us to optimise the project’s installation strategies. The simulation software allows multiple strategies to be compared efficiently and will help us de-risk the key operations in a challenging and diverse environment”.
Laurie Wilkinson, Operations Manager, JBA, said: “We were delighted to be appointed to the Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm and are proud of the contribution we’re making to optimising and de-risking the project design”.
