Mark Lawless has joined the Strategic Advisory Board of the Aura Centre for Doctoral Training

Our Director, Mark Lawless has joined the Strategic Advisory Board of the Aura Centre for Doctoral Training in Offshore Wind & the Environment.

Located on the Humber, at the heart of the UK’s Energy Estuary, the £5million Aura Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) on Offshore Wind Energy and the Environment (funded by the EPSRC and NERC) is led by the University of Hull, in collaboration with the universities of Sheffield, Durham and Newcastle.

The Aura CDT works with Industry to develop the cutting edge innovative solutions and highly skilled people needed to achieve the ambitious targets set out in the recently launched Offshore Wind Sector Deal.

Mark will join other key personnel from the Offshore Wind Industry who will form the Strategic Advisory Board – a committee charged with ensuring that the training offered by the Aura CDT is relevant to the priority challenges of industry.

JBA Consulting will also have the opportunity to work with a world-leading cluster of institutions focused on Offshore Wind. Potentially developing innovative industry and challenge-led research projects and taking on full PhD supervisor team membership, alongside academic leads, as well as networking with the wider Aura CDT partners of the Aura CDT.

Professor Daniel Parsons, Director of the Energy & Environment Institute and the Aura CDT said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark to the Strategic Advisory Board of the Aura CDT. JBA Consulting and Mark’s expertise in both business innovation and marine and coastal risk management chime with the Aura CDT’s innovative focus on the engineering challenges faced by the Offshore Wind Industry. We look forward to working with Mark and JBA Consulting as we develop the Aura CDT’s programme of research and the skillset of the next generation of leaders in Offshore Wind.”
