Re/Insurance hazard modelling
Coastal processes and sediment transport
Coasts, ports and harbour engineering
Coastal strategy.

Opportunities for a Marine and Coastal Sector Technical Director

You will be technically strong, a leader in the field, with passion and drive to develop business in new markets, to conceive and deliver new innovations, to develop and manage client relationships and to nurture and lead staff.

Your role will involve:
Developing and implementing business growth strategies for the MCRM group.
Developing and maintaining relationships with established and new clients as well as key collaborators in the UK and internationally.
Raising our profile in the sectors we work through attendance and presentations at conferences, industry events and through other networking activities.
Assisting in the development and commercialisation of new innovations and technologies.
Leading teams delivering highly innovative and challenging technical studies.
Managing clients, projects and tenders.
Writing and reviewing technical reports.
Continually developing, improving and managing QA processes.
Qualifications and Experience
The successful candidate would ideally be based in our Skipton office (North Yorkshire, UK), but consideration would also be given to our Edinburgh or Haywards Heath offices for the right candidate.
You will have at least an MSc in oceanography, civil/offshore engineering or another relevant science or engineering degree. You will have considerable experience working in some or all the following sectors: government, offshore energy/construction (e.g. offshore wind, oil and gas, ports and harbours), Re/insurance, international development sector (e.g. World Bank, Asian Development Bank).
You will have managed relevant technical studies, client relationships and staff and ideally have substantial and proven UK consultancy experience. You will be chartered with a relevant organisation (e.g. IMarEST, CIWEM, ICE).
Applicants should be able to demonstrate self-motivation, personal organisation, and an ability and desire to develop business and to innovate. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills are essential. The ability and willingness to travel frequently, including internationally, is important.
Non-EU nationals should have a current and valid permit to work in the UK.
